Chapter Members, As we continue our dive into a year filled with creativity and community engagement, I'm excited to invite you to join us in shaping the future of our AIA chapter. Join Subcommittees: Enhance Collaboration Your unique perspective and skills are invaluable. Join our subcommittees to contribute your expertise and drive our shared goals forward. This years subcommittees include the following: Advocacy Committee - Dedicating time and resources in educating the community and our peers on the importance of using licensed professionals and to create means and methods of enforcement against those who illegally practice architecture in our community. Legacy Committee - Focusing on the preservation of historic architecture in El Paso and bringing awareness and recognition to the professionals that served before us that paved the way for El Paso's growth and success. WiA - Women in Architecture - whose goal is to bring awareness and diversity to our profession by encouraging more women to join the profession and make an impact.
Outdoor Events: Explore and Connect Let's take our passion for design outdoors! From clean-up initiatives to design workshops, there's something for everyone to enjoy and contribute to. We will be initiating outdoor meet up events such as Sunday walk/runs over scenic drive and monthly hikes on one of our beautiful trails. There might also be a Architecture firm basketball or soccer tournament...so start practicing!!! Supporting the Aztec Architecture Academy Recognizing outstanding work by high school students in the Aztec Architecture Academy. Check out their impressive designs and consider offering your support or collaboration. Link to Aztec Architecture Academy's work The Academy is looking for contributions from local firms to help them travel next month to an architecture competition in Arizona. The students have won several state awards and are looking for our help. The chapter will be making a donation but I encourage you all to consider helping these students reach their goals.
