Chapter Members, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are preparing to enjoy the Holiday Season in the warm company of family and friends. It has been my profound pleasure to serve as the AIA El Paso Chapter President this year. As we wrap up 2023, I want to thank our Board of Director’s for all their hard work. We have had an amazing year of events that would not have been possible without your volunteer efforts. Thanks to you for so generously giving back to the profession with your time. We now just have a couple of final events to close out the year as a Chapter. This Wednesday on the evening of December 6th we have an Accessibility Seminar presented by Registered Accessibility Specialist, Olaf Brunjes. Olaf will be presenting an HSW Barrier Free Session hosted by Terracon at their offices. The doors open at 5pm and the presentation by Olaf will begin promptly at 5:30pm. Refreshments will be provided courtesy of our valued Professional Affiliate Terracon. Our final Chapter Meeting of the year will be our Annual Business Meeting that is taking place next week on Thursday, December 14th at the new Salt + Honey location on Texas Avenue. This meeting will include reports from our Board of Directors as well as review of our 2024 annual Chapter Budget. Please consider having your company support the Architecture Gala coming up next month in January. The El Paso Chapter’s grandest annual event honoring our design award recipients for 2023 will be a spectacular night that you don’t want to miss. As we look forward to the year to come — we are now booking out the last of our monthly chapter meeting sponsorships now for 2024. If you represent one of our Professional Affiliates and would like to sponsor a chapter meeting please reach out to myself or President-Elect Rida Asfahani. We still have openings for sponsors in August, September and November of 2024 available for booking. We will also be sending out Professional Affiliate membership renewals in the coming month. Finally, let me conclude the year with one last call for contributions to the Texas Architects Committee (TAC) to help fund our Society’s advocacy efforts with legislators in Austin. If you have not already done so this year, take moment to give make a contribution of $10, $100 or $1000 today. While you are making your contribution please click the option to make it a monthly or annually recurring contribution so you don’t have to think about next year.
