Dear AIA El Paso Members, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you for your continued support and dedication to our chapter. Your involvement and passion are what keep our community thriving, and I am truly grateful for the work we accomplish together. Addressing Recent Concerns I would like to take a moment to address an important issue that has been brought to our attention. We have received numerous complaints regarding individuals misrepresenting themselves as architects within our community and the municipality. After a thorough review of these complaints, we found them significant enough to forward to the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners (TBAE) for further investigation. Please rest assured that this matter is being taken seriously. For more information or if you have additional concerns, feel free to contact me directly or check with the state for updates. Archtober and Committee Updates Archtober is just around the corner, and we are excited about the events we have lined up! From lectures and tours to community outreach programs, there’s something for everyone to get involved in. Be sure to check our website and social media for the full schedule of events.
I also want to highlight our upcoming committee meetings. These meetings are a great way to stay informed and contribute to the initiatives that are shaping the future of our chapter. Your participation is invaluable, so I encourage you to attend and share your insights. Save the Date: Architect's Day Proclamation Mark your calendars for a special event! We’ll be gathering at City Hall on September 24th at 8 AM for the Architect’s Day Proclamation. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our profession and showcase the impact we have on the community. We look forward to seeing you there! This Month’s Chapter Meeting We are excited to announce that Alex Hoffman from the City of El Paso will be joining us at this month’s chapter meeting. He will briefly describe some of the zoning initiatives the city will be pushing for in the near future. This is an excellent opportunity for us to get a glimpse of what’s in store and provide valuable feedback that could shape the future of our city. Volunteer Opportunity: Paso del Norte Foundation The Paso del Norte Foundation is seeking architects to serve on the board they are establishing for the Deck Park project. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a significant community initiative. However, please keep in mind that if selected, you will not be able to compete for any work associated with the project. If you’re interested, reach out to the foundation for more details. Call for Nominations: LUNA Awards Finally, a reminder that nominations for the LUNA Awards are due by September 13th. This is an excellent opportunity to recognize outstanding contributions to our profession and celebrate the achievements of our peers. Don’t miss the chance to nominate deserving individuals who have made a difference in our community. Thank you once again for your ongoing support and commitment to AIA El Paso.
