Chapter Members, August is in full swing and things are finally cooling down a bit in El Paso — so its time to plan for our fall and winter events. This past week we had a very successful 2nd annual mixer event with our construction partners in the El Paso Association of Contractors (EPAC). I want to thank all of our member firms who showed up to represent their work and feature collaborations with the EPAC members. We had a fantastic turnout and I would like to pass along the gratitude of Executive Director, Adam Pacheco and his EPAC board for your attendance and participation. A quick reminder of the AIA El Paso Sponsorship Menu that went out this summer with sponsorship opportunities for our AIA El Paso events this coming year. If your company is interested in getting involved I would urge you to reach out to the event coordinators for Golf Tournament, 5K Architecture Run and Design Awards that are coming up in the fall and winter months. Speaking of our Design Awards - keep your eyes open for the Call For Entries that will go out this week! We have our Jury lined up for the 2023-24 Design Awards and the date is set for the Architecture Gala that will be happening at the Paso Del Norte Hotel again in January. We would like to personally thank Mark D’Antonio with Bell & McCoy for stepping up to sponsor the August monthly meeting at Park Tavern. We look forward to seeing you all there this Thursday at noon. Sponsorships of our monthly chapter meetings by Professional Affiliates have filled up for the rest of 2023 and we are now booking into the first half of 2024. If your company would like to sponsor a monthly chapter meeting please reach out today. We have openings for sponsors in January, April and May 2024 still available. We are also actively looking for members interested in serving on our 2024 Executive Committee as we begin to plan for the new year. If you are personally interested in serving or have someone you would like to nominate please reach out to me or another member of our board as soon as possible. Another reminder that EARLY BIRD registration is still available for EMERGE, the Texas Society of Architects 84th Annual Conference and Design Expo in Fort Worth. The conference is November 2nd-4th in Fort Worth and Early Bird Pricing ends on September 19th. Finally, let me conclude with another call for contributions to the Texas Architects Committee (TAC) to help fund our Society’s advocacy efforts with legislators in Austin. A handful of our members have already contributed to TAC this year, but we need those who have not yet, to step up and contribute to the fund. Take a moment to make a contribution of $10, $100 or $1000 as you read this. While you are there, click the option to make it a monthly or annually recurring contribution so you don’t have to think about it in the future.
