Dear AIA El Paso Members, It is an honor to serve as President of AIA El Paso this year. I have had the privilege of serving the architectural community as an Executive Committee member for the past five years. Through the hard work of our past presidents, committee members, and volunteers I have witnessed the engagement and the enthusiasm grow every year. I can’t thank them enough for laying the foundation, it is our responsibility as a chapter to carry this momentum forward. I want to build upon the successes of the past year. Our chapter enters this year with strong engagement, meaningful events, and a shared commitment to advancing architecture in our region. Our profession is at a pivotal point as it continues to evolve in response to political and economic pressures, technological change, climate responsibility, and the growing need for equitable and resilient communities. As architects, we are uniquely positioned to lead not just by designing buildings, but by shaping conversations, policies, and the future of the places we serve. This year, our chapter will focus on strengthening connections among our members, expanding meaningful professional development, and elevating the value of architecture in our region. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner, emerging professional, or student, there is a place for your voice, your experience, and your leadership here. Strengthening Connections among our members remains a key priority. El Paso’s architectural community is uniquely positioned at the intersection of cultures, disciplines, and practice types. Stronger relationships across firms, career stages, and specialties, will create a more connected and supportive professional network that encourages collaboration, mentorship, and shared leadership. Our chapter is strongest when members feel connected not only to the AIA, but to one another. We are also committed to delivering Professional Development that is relevant to the realities of practice in our region. As El Paso continues to grow and evolve, architects face distinct challenges of the border-region. Our goal is to provide programming that is practical, forward-looking, and directly applicable to how we work here, ensuring our members are equipped to lead with confidence and expertise. Equally important is continuing to elevate the Value of Architecture in the El Paso region. Architects play a vital role in shaping the built environment of our desert city. Creating places that are resilient, culturally responsive, and rooted in community. Through advocacy, public engagement, and collaboration with civic partners, AIA El Paso will continue to highlight the importance of design excellence and the positive impact architects have on the quality of life in our region. I encourage you to get involved! Attend events, join a committee, mentor a colleague, or simply reach out to reconnect. Our chapter is strongest when we show up for one another and work together toward a shared vision. Thank you for your continued commitment to our profession and our community.
